What to Expect at Your First Hair Restoration Consultation in Peshawar

Most people who walk into the clinic for the first time have already spent months reading about hair transplants online — graft counts, FUE versus FUT, before-and-after galleries from clinics in Turkey, the whole lot. By the time they sit down across from me, the questions are usually the same: am I a good candidate, how much will it cost, and how long until anyone notices something has changed.

The first consultation exists to answer those questions properly, not to sell a procedure. Here is what actually happens during the 30–45 minutes you spend with us, so there are no surprises.

A short conversation first

Before any examination, I want to know what brought you in. How long has the thinning been going on? Was there a sudden phase or a gradual creep? Has anyone in your family — father, maternal grandfather, brothers — gone through the same pattern? Any previous treatments, including minoxidil bottles you stopped using after a month? Any medical history I should know about, including thyroid issues, recent significant weight loss, or anything that might be contributing.

This is also where I ask what you actually want. “A full head of hair like I had at 22” is honest, and we will talk about what is realistic. A lowered hairline, denser crown coverage, or just slowing the loss are all valid goals — they each lead to different recommendations.

The scalp examination

Then the physical part. I look at the scalp under good lighting and, when needed, with a dermatoscope to assess miniaturisation. I estimate your Norwood grade, check the donor area at the back and sides for density and laxity, and look for diffuse thinning that might suggest something other than standard androgenetic alopecia.

This is the step that decides whether surgery is even on the table. If the donor area cannot supply enough good follicles, no clinic — anywhere — can deliver a good result. I would rather tell you that on day one than after a deposit.

The honest recommendation

At the end I give you three things: a clear assessment of what is happening, the realistic options (which may be PRP, PRGF, medical therapy, surgery, or simply waiting), and a written quote if a transplant makes sense. Standard FUE at our clinic runs PKR 120,000–150,000 and the ultra-high-density Chinese method PKR 140,000–180,000, single session in most cases.

If I think surgery is not the right call yet — because you are too young, because the pattern has not stabilised, or because non-surgical options would do enough — I will say so. There is no charge for the consultation either way.

Bring photos from a few years ago if you have them. Bring questions written down. And do not bring a deposit — that conversation only happens later, once you have had time to think.
